Powering Sustainable Hospitality: Value-Chain Solutions for Energy-Efficient HORECA

EnergyEfficiency4HORECA Final Conference

The transition to a more energy-efficient and sustainable HORECA sector is no longer optional — it is essential. As energy costs rise and regulatory expectations intensify, businesses across the hospitality value chain are under increasing pressure to adapt, innovate, and collaborate.

On 30 June, in Brussels, the EnergyEfficiency4HORECA (EE4HORECA) project invites you to its Final Conference: “Powering Sustainable Hospitality: Value-Chain Solutions for Energy-Efficient HORECA“, a high-level event bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, SMEs, and experts to explore the future of energy efficiency in the sector.

Why attend?

The HORECA sector remains one of the most energy-intensive segments of the European economy. With hotels, restaurants, and catering services facing rising operational costs and increasing sustainability demands, the need for practical, scalable solutions has never been greater.

This final event will showcase how EnergyEfficiency4HORECA has addressed these challenges by developing concrete tools and methodologies to support businesses across the value chain. From benchmarking systems to innovative business models, the project has empowered companies to better understand, measure, and improve their energy performance.

Participants will gain:

  • Insights into energy use across the HORECA value chain
  • Access to practical tools and best practices developed through the project
  • Real examples of collaboration between businesses, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • A forward-looking discussion on how to scale impact beyond the project’s lifetime

High-level discussions & key highlights

The conference will open with remarks from leading voices in the sector, setting the stage for a dynamic exchange on the role of energy efficiency in Europe’s green transition.

A keynote address from a senior representative of DG ENER (tbc) will provide a policy perspective on energy efficiency, innovation, and the path toward climate neutrality.

A dedicated session on “Understanding Energy Use Across the HORECA Value Chain” will offer a deep dive into how energy flows across the sector — from suppliers to hospitality operators — and where the greatest opportunities for improvement lie. Project experts will present key findings, best practices, and the tools developed to support businesses in making data-driven decisions.

Complementing this, the conference will explore how skills and capacity building are essential to driving change, sharing lessons learned from training activities and national experiences across several European countries. Participants will also be introduced to the project’s Energy Efficiency Portal, a one-stop hub connecting businesses with practical resources and EU initiatives, alongside hands-on tools such as the IMPAWATT platform used by companies to assess and improve their energy performance.

The final session will focus on demonstrating real impact, showcasing success stories from beneficiary companies and presenting both qualitative and quantitative results from EE4HORECA and related initiatives. These examples will highlight how businesses have applied project tools, strengthened their energy management practices, and unlocked new opportunities for collaboration across the value chain.
